Just quoting from mango's email today, which is profoundly interesting coming from the busy physicist:
'Most people don't accomplish "something meaningful" in their job. Meaningful is defined inside you, and time is your most precious resource. There are loads of meaningful things you could be doing. Reading books, writing books, helping the poor, volunteering at an animal shelter, translating chinese for patients at hospitals, travelling, riding your bike. Having a job only takes away from such meaningful time.'
So then, I ask myself, what is the point of working at a job at all? Surely very few people actually enjoy their work 100% of the time? What am I working so hard to achieve in life then?
Coming back to one of my favorite passages, Matthew 16:26, 'What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?'
