成语003:光明磊落 -- 做人与处世

I have been thinking about some conversations I had with my parents lately, during which they kept on emphasizing the term: 做人. This got me thinking about the complication of being in this human society. I have a hard time verbalizing the thoughts I had so I thought I'd look up some Chinese idioms that describe some of the situations very well. No wonder my parents always say that 做人与处世 is a life long learning process.. (My apologies to the non-Chinese speakers).

Basically, there is a school of thought that would emphasize on a person live an honest life, be true to their belief, stand up for their principle, and always live within the guidelines of their value system. my mom always says 做人要光明磊落 On the other hand, the second term tells us that some times it's better to not be too perceptive, too sharp, and too firm (unwilling to bend a little).. 水至清则无鱼

some other terms I have heard of before or saw while surfing Baidu:

做人要清白、做人要宽厚、做人要坦然、做人要有人性和良心,真正问心无愧。
