Hanna House Tour
On Sunday I finally toured the famous Frank Lloyd designed Hanna house at Stanford. This is another activity I've heard of for years, yet always delayed doing. Maybe it's a sign that I should start to pro-actively organize events, haven't been doing that for the past 2-3 years thought.
The Hanna residence is some times refered to as the "Honeycomb House" due to its hexagonal theme throughout.
One of the unique features of the house is that all the interior walls are non-load-bearing. Thus they function more like those Japanese screens rather than like functional walls. They serve the purpose of provide visual division and conceal privacy, yet they can be disassembled and seamlessly moved to another section of the house, thus changing the interior layout significantly.
The ease with which the nonmasonry walls could be assembled or disassembled allowed for considerable alteration of interior space.
