essentials of a relationship
I was driving back to work from a Solaris summer picnic today, when I turned into KCBS when I heard a Lexus radio commercial. One of the catch lines in it was "Some people say that one of the essentials of a healthy relationship is 'compromise'..."
Um. I don't quite like the word 'compromise', especially when it's used in the relationship terms. I think this word carries with it a very passive and involuntary feeling, more like a shrug and "whatever!". I would want to use a more pro-active strategy -- synergy!
Synergy -- Etymology: New Latin synergia, from Greek synergos working together
1 : SYNERGISM; broadly : combined action or operation
2 : a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts)
